We have not tested these. This table holds only the details we took from the listings. "Not in the detail we have" does not mean a model lacks it. It means you should look on the listing or ask the seller.

What this comparison can and cannot tell you

The only number both listings share is a room size, and that is the weakest number to compare. Coverage figures depend on how many air changes a brand assumes, and they are not always worked out the same way. So 462 sq ft against 380 sq ft does not prove that one machine cleans a room faster than the other.

CADR is the stronger figure. It stands for clean air delivery rate, and it tells you how much clean air the machine gives out each hour. Xiaomi's listing gives this figure, so you can do the sum for your room. For the Philips, find the CADR on the listing or the brand's page, then do the same sum.

A room sum you can do

Multiply your room's length, width and ceiling height in feet, then divide by 35 to get cubic metres. Divide the CADR by that number to get air changes an hour.

We use five air changes an hour as a simple target. It is our example, not an official standard.

Room size at a 10 ft ceiling Volume Air changes at 360 m³/hr CADR
120 sq ft 34 m³ About 10.6
180 sq ft 51 m³ About 7
250 sq ft 71 m³ About 5
462 sq ft 132 m³ About 2.7

This is our own arithmetic from the listed figure, not a test. It shows why the room size printed on a listing should be read with care. At the full listed 462 sq ft with a 10 foot ceiling, the sum gives about 2.7 changes an hour. On our five change target, 360 m³/hr fits a room of about 250 sq ft.

Once you have the Philips CADR, put it in the same sum. A purifier cleans one closed room at a time, so use the room you sit or sleep in most.

What to confirm before you buy

Filter price. The filter is where the money goes. For each model, find the replacement filter's price, its rated life in hours, and whether genuine filters are easy to get in India. Then divide the rated hours by the hours you plan to run it each day. If you run it 12 hours a day and the filter is rated for an example 4,000 hours, it lasts about 11 months. Do this for both models, using real figures.

What the filter layers are. Xiaomi lists 3 stage, and it helps to know what each stage is. Check for a named HEPA grade, such as H13, and how much activated carbon there is. For the Philips, find the same details.

Noise. Check the sound level at the low speed, since that is what you will hear at night. Find the figure for both models at the same speed if you can.

App. Check if each model has an app, what it does, and what still works without Wi-Fi. If you do not want an app, confirm that you can run the machine from its own buttons.

Service. Find out who services each model in your town, how a repair works, and what the warranty covers. Ask if it depends on registering the product.

Running cost. Find the listed power at the speed you will use. As an example, a 30 watt purifier running 12 hours a day uses 10.8 units a month, which is about ₹86 at an example rate of ₹8 per unit. Check your bill for your own rate.

Which should you choose?

We are not naming a winner, because the listing details we have do not settle it.

Choose the Xiaomi 4 Lite if you want a listing that shows its CADR, your room works on the sum above, and its filter price and service suit you.

Choose the Philips AC1711 if your room is within the listed 380 sq ft, its CADR works on the same sum, and its filter price and service suit you.

Choose on filter cost if the two come out close. You will pay for filters every year, and the price on the day is only the start.

Xiaomi Air Purifier 4 Lite 360 m³/hr CADR, covers 462 sq ft, 3 stage filter
Philips AC1711 Rooms up to 380 sq ft

Before you buy

Measure the room first. If your room is large, one machine at the edge of its listed size may be slow to clean the air, so run the sum before you decide. Keep doors and windows closed while it runs, and keep your invoice for the warranty.

Common questions

Which covers a bigger room on the listing?

The Xiaomi listing says 462 sq ft and the Philips listing says rooms up to 380 sq ft. Brands may work out coverage in different ways, so use CADR to compare if you can find it for both.

Is the Xiaomi better because the number is bigger?

Not on that alone. A coverage figure depends on how many air changes a brand assumes. Compare CADR for both models, then filter price, noise, app and service.

What should I check first?

Measure your room and find the CADR for each model. Then find the price and rated life of the replacement filter, since that is the real long-term cost.
